first time gardener :-)

by sonya
(london england)

Hello ,
I have just moved into my first house (after 8 years in a flat with no planting space beyond my kitchen window sill) and it has a small but I'm sure workable garden plot :-)
I think container gardening is my best option as there is no areas of earth , just patio , path and a tiny patch of turf.
I am starting from scratch so am looking for lots of help and ideas on what will be easy veggies for a beginner , with lots of enthusiasm but not as much time as I would like .
I would also like tips on keeping my costs down and including as many recycling ideas as possible
Thanks xx
Sonya xx

Hi Sonia

Glad to see you here. The one thing to remember is unless you have full sun in your garden area your options to grow are very limited. After saying that some veg will do ok in part shaded areas things like lettuce cabbage etc will tolerate part shade you can use any container as long as it has some depth I.E flexi tubs large planters etc give some protection from wind and I am sure you can get some growing enjoyment from your garden.

Cheers Bill
